Abstract

An extensive research has investigate the relationship between newscaster’s gender and age influence the judgment of credibility by mass audiences that watch the TV news in Malaysia. A number of scholars from other countries have written about the impact of newscasters selections and its power to incline credibility in audiences perceptions. Yet, there is no presence of such study in Malaysia. Therefore, this research being conducted to study whether gender and age of newscasters in Malaysia will influence audiences’ perceptions towards the judgment of credibility. The research is being divided into five chapters. Each chapter will interpret in detail regarding the topic of study. The first chapter would be the introduction of the title. Essentially inclusive research background, research problems, research objectives, research questions, sampling, research limitations, research significant and definition of related terms. While in Chapter two, literature and theoretical frameworks will be discussed later. A prior research has been taken into account for the perspective by different scholars in this topic. Subsequently, Chapter three will discuss about the methods being used for this study. Quantitative research methods that inclusive Survey research and Content Analysis being apply to study audiences’ perceptions towards gender and age of newscasters in the sample from RTM1 Berita Nasional and TV3 Bulletin Utama. Chapter four would be the results getting from both research methods and resolve the three research questions that being discussed in chapter one. Last but not least, Chapter five would be the discussion for the whole research and conclusion being draw for the whole successive study for the research.
