Abstract

This is a Bachelor’s Degree thesis and it is aim to find the influence of the new media platform which is Instagram against the perception of beauty among the female users at the age of 18-29 as it is shown that they are the highest usage group among the other age group. This research uses a qualitative method of interview to analyze the perception of beauty among the respondents as perception can be a very open ended question and opinion based, this method would be most beneficial to the research. The respondents are first tested and probe to general question about Instagram testing their usage level in the different functions of Instagram. The main component is their perception of beauty and after probing and further questions on the exemplary beauty accounts on Instagram, they were then asked again on the perception of beauty. The findings are to show whether are there any positive correlation on the influence of Instagram in changing a strong mindset a female would have formed since young, however may also changes over the years as the existence of media grew.
