Abstract
Wall climbing robot is mostly used in wall cleaning application. These robot is aim to clean windows ranging from household windows to high rise building windows. This project aims to design and develop a wall climbing robot with the ability to do the transition between surfaces, which includes 90° transition and 270° transition. The control implementation and application design of such robot are designed to allow the robot to come alive. In order to provide user the full control and understanding of the robot’s performance, a simple interface of simulation GUI is designed. All considerations for designing a light weighted, compact but powerful control circuit have been taken into account. Arduino Uno is substituted with Arduino Nano. Single power supply is used with buck converter to provide different voltage level for various components needs. The powerful MOSFET is used instead of bulky mechanical relay. The platform that brings all the components together fabricated with PCB. The brain of the robot is programmed using Arduino IDE. Robot movement commands are given by the user from an Android App via Bluetooth connection. The main contributions of this project include some important elements: - A customized control circuit design that fits every criteria of the wall climbing robot. - The design of a Bluetooth enabled phone application that allows remote control of the robot. The concept behind the compact circuit design can be applied in other applications with critical factors especially weight.
