Abstract

This project was about the automatic car parking system in Ferris wheel shape prototype. This automatic car parking system was controlled by using a circuit which consists of combination of RC servo motor, medium range infrared sensor and 40 pin PIC microcontroller. The purpose of using RC servo motor was controlled the direction of the parking slot while for the 40 pin PIC microcontroller was controlled the RC servo motor. Firstly, the infrared sensor will detect whether there was a vehicle entered the parking or not. If the vehicle was detected by the infrared sensor, the infrared sensor will then send a signal to the computer through serial port connection in order to let the user to key in all the information such as username and password on the computer. The computer was set only available for vehicle entering the parking and let the user key in all the necessary information on computer but not for those people just simply key in all the detail on computer without any vehicle was detected. The function of using serial port connection in this project was act as linking between computer and microcontroller so that computer and microcontroller can communicate each other through the serial port connection. After the user had finish key in all the detail on the computer, then the computer will then saved the username and password of the user to the database and hence the computer will send a signal to PIC microcontroller to turn the motor direction for the next users. Next, if the user came back for taking his vehicle back from the parking, the user had to select back the password and username that key in before parking on the computer. Hence, the computer will send a signal to the PIC controller to turn the motor direction correctly for the user taking back their vehicle.
