Abstract

This project is about the development of object tracking system by image processing. The object tracking system is based on color to detect the object. Microsoft Visual Studio C++ 2008 with the aid of OpenCV library is used to develop the Graphical User Interface (GUI) for the live stream video and object tracking. A USB web camera is used as the vision of the object tracking system which will positioned at the top of a specific board. The algorithm of calculate coordinate is designed to find out the coordinate of object detected. The calculated coordinate will sent to a robotic arm via serial transmission. This project is combined with my partner's project named "Robot Arm with Computer Vision". This object tracking system is operated with a robotic arm which has 3 degree of freedom. The major role of robotic arm is to catch the object detected from this object tracking system. When the robotic arm received the feedback from the object tracking system, it will move to the particular coordinate where they object situated. Gripping process is held and object is going to deliver to the specify destination. After the process, the object tracking system will keep looping until an object is detected again and the process will repeat.
