Abstract
The purpose of this project is to design a 3-dimension (3D) LED display device on the theory of POV. This design provides a more attractive, engaging and a more noticeable method of displaying a message or even an animation. The basic idea of this design is to rotate a ring with RGB LEDs by using a motor with fast enough speed to produce an image. Basically, this project involves both hardware and software. The core of the project is the MBED microcontroller which works with other components such as shift register and RGB LEDS. The programming language used is programming language. The author uses SPI bus as the communication link between the microcontroller and the shift registers. This make the system become relatively simple to construct and program. The author has successfully implemented the part of the design and the detail will be discussed further in the following chapters.
