Abstract

In Malaysia, burglary cases are increasing dramatically every year. Therefore, this project is designed to reduce the crime rate since this project is low in budgeting which able to be owned by everyone. At present for the purpose of insuring more security and convenience in life, there are few type of wireless home security system are used such as Bluetooth wireless technology, GSM based home security and etc. In this project with the title of "Smart Home Security System", it is a GSM based home security system. It is consist of four home security sensors (PIR sensor, Laser sensor, smoke sensor and temperature sensor) which are monitor and controllable by a mobile phone which acts as a GSM controller device. These sensors are mounted at some strategic places (kitchen, door, window, etc.) in the house. Ifthe system detects an intruder, it will then send a message to user in the meantime, the system will trigger the alarm. In this project, a P ICl 6F877A microcontroller is used to control the whole system due to it has enough pins to control all input and output of the system. The PICI 6F877A is also act as the main brain of the home security system which it is the main controlling system which receives and transfer signals to GSM controller (mobile phone) and Graphical User Interface (GUI) system. This project is separated into two sections which are hardware development and software development. It will be discussed further and more detail in respective development stage to form the whole home security system.
