Abstract

This dissertation is called "The Integration of SCADA and OMRON PLCs in Flexible Manufacturing System with Standard Industrial Communication Protocol and Networking". Basically it is an industrial based project which can help us to increase some knowledge in automation field and serves for educational purpose. Typically this project consists of four parts. The first part will be concerned with the electrical diagram design and practical electrical wiring. The purpose of electrical control diagram for the master PLC is for conveyor control and networking purpose. Besides, the power supply, input module and output module of PLCs will be built based on the electrical control diagram as well. The second part of this project is utilization of HostLink communication protocol using Visual Basic 2008. This protocol will be served as the communication between SCADA and the master PLC since the master PLC that we are using in this project is OMRON PLC. Development of DeviceNet network which is a networking linkage between the master PLC and all the working stations in the flexible manufacturing system for data collection and data sharing purpose will also be one of a part of this dissertation. The last part of this project is to design a PLC program that controls the conveyor process and the cylinders of the working stations in the flexible manufacturing system. As a result, a ladder diagram for the master PLCs will be written using CX-programmer software.
