Abstract

This dissertation mainly described the use of Work Study Elements in the manufacturing plants which are contained in the literature survey and case study section. The literature part has outlined the difference types of work study together with the application and also the important of this work study to the industries particularly manufacturing industries. Nevertheless, the literature parts also highlight the main reason why we apply this type of study. The detail of these various types of work study are necessary because it offer more advantages than the others hence can easily improve the process performance of various industries especially the manufacturing industries. It may however that the use of various type of diagram, table and example of forms prove to be a valuable aids in the process of determine the effectiveness and performance of the industries being studied. Hence, we can use these tools to develop a better method to improve the current method to enhance the performance of the industries. The case study in this dissertation is concerning on improving the metal sheet forming process in manufacturing industries. Some case procedures need to be clarified to made the analysis more consistent and effective. The data obtained are carefully fill up by the operators into various forms to obtain the product running time and also cycle times. From the data, interpretation are done to find out what data have the significant change and can it be improved by developing a proposed method and test it. The results obtained are analyze and compared to get a better performance in the department. Finally in the discussion we concluded that improvement in data recording in a form can increased the efficiency of the machines due to awareness from employees regarding the important of this recorded data. Not only that, modifying of tools to respective process also able to increase the productivity and reduced cycle times of the products. With a correct manpower arrangement on handling specific products or sample could reduced the potency of over fatigue on employees. Nevertheless it is often exist conflict between theory and reality.
