Abstract

The final year project reported in this thesis focuses on the methodology and the final performance of the clothes-drying equipment that helps to solve common household problem of drying clothes on a clothes hanger in outdoor. Normally, a common problem faced when drying clothes in outdoor is the exposure to rain. When the weather gets bad and starts to rain, we have to immediately collect our clothes. Often, if we didn’t collect them in time, our clothes will get wet and we may need to wash them again. This problem has inspired me to design automatic clothes-drying equipment. The four side of the clothes-drying equipment is equipped with transparent cover, which is attached onto a motor that is connected to an Arduino Pro Micro motherboard. The whole system of this clothes-drying equipment is controlled by a MH-RD Raindrop Module, which acts as a rain sensor. The raindrop sensor will send out signal to the motherboard whenever there is rain. The motherboard will then send a digital signal to activate the motor to roll down the cover. One of the covers is connected to a single 12v and 100 rpm motor while the other three covers are interconnected by 25 teeth bevel gear. The four covers will fully cover all corners of the clothes hanger to protect the clothes from rain exposure. This is a simple but practical way to solve the common household problem of drying clothes in outdoor. By using my clothes drying equipment,we do not need to worry about collecting our clothes whenever it rains.
