Abstract
Gasketed-plate heat exchanger is a device that transfer heat between two working fluids. Heat created during a process can be recycled to improve the efficiency of energy usage. Therefore, gasketed-plate heat exchanger was implemented to extracts the heat energy from waste product and transfer to another working fluid which need the energy. In this project, various types of plate surface patterns had been tested to determine the turbulence intensity occurrence at the surface. After that, the chosen plate pattern will be constructed into gasketed-plate heat exchanger and run for simulation with different gaskets. The project was carried out by SolidWorks Flow Simulation to check the turbulence intensity of plate and temperature of gasketed-plate heat exchanger. A prominent chevron plate was found to be the most proper plate pattern that possessed high turbulence intensity while side flow gasket gave more heat transfer although the data is very close to other types of gasket.
