The objective of this project dissertation is to design and fabricate a bending and capping machine operation; in order to reduce the total operating time required and to increases the production output by implementing an automation. The twisted-wire brush will go through two bending process and a capping process. This dissertation will focus on bending process and capping will be done by author project partner Mr Teu Bradley Ading Tonggil. A meeting was conducted between the author, the project partner and project supervisors. The problem statement was defined after the meeting, and the reviewing of previous and similar work was done based on the problems analysed for the existing bending operation and the new proposed design. A literature reviews consists of the studies that are relevant to the project concerned. It included the information of mechanical component, electrical component, and programming that are going to applies in the studies. A basic concept of the bending machine was sketched by hand and then the mechanical design was drawn with the aid of SolidWork. After the design was approved by both of the supervisors, fabrications start. After the fabrication of the machine was completed, programming logic controller (PLC) design started. Programming, circuiting wiring and connection of electrical parts was done. Once the programming and wiring work are done, the control panels is installed and integrated with the hardware components. As a results, the machine will be control by the Human Machine Interface touch screen panel and buttons along with pneumatic components.
