Abstract
In Tunku Abdul Rahman University College, final year students from Bachelor of Engineering student are given an opportunity to utilize the knowledge gained throughout the study years and prove it on a specific project known as the Final Year Project. In the Faculty of Engineering Technology, students are tasked to perform a research under respective field of engineering, from here, students -are blessed with the occasion to demonstrate the skills and epistemology that is acquired after years of hardship in practicing and learning. Not only can the project helps student to make use of the information learnt, but also it teaches student the way to do a research appropriately and accordingly which without a doubt, this will pave a path in the student’s future career life. This project consist of two section, the first section require students to present a proposal of respective title. In this proposal form, students are required to include some important contents such as the objectives of research, problem statement, literature review, methodology of research and so on. All the researched theory is then put into work during the second section, which is to be done in the second semester, thus in the second section, students are required to research a result the means of experimenting, data collecting, theory proving and so fort. The result are then present with supporting theory to prove the existence. In my Final Year Project, I have chosen the Predictive Maintenance on Smart Welding Machine as my title. In this project, the research is to be done by collecting, interpreting and hence analyzing the data of the welding machine. Sensors are placed on some specific parts of the welding machine to record the data, and this data are transfer to a server and eventually presented on a user interface that is understandable by human operator. Thus a Smart Welding machine basically combine the component of a welding machine with the pillars of Industry 4.0 in order to perform welding process favorably while harboring the meaning of the words “Smart”.
