Abstract

First of all, this research paper is related to the tail-down force and speed of an aircraft during landing. In general, tail-down force is called as a negative lift force that able to balance the 4 forces applied on the aircraft which are drag, thrust, weight and lift. Besides, it is controlled by the horizontal stabilizer and elevator which located at the tail of the aircraft and it is able to change the speed of an aircraft. By initiating the research of this project, it provides an opportunity to understand what tail-down force is. Then, it is much easier to maintain the longitudinal stability by controlling the tail-down force and hence reduce the accidents happened. Nowadays, the analytical method is used in many situations and contributes a lot to different field of research. In aerospace field, analytical method and the programming language MATLAB are introduced to observe and solve different kinds of problems which are related to the aerodynamics such as the stability of an aircraft during takeoff and landing, the climb rate of an aircraft in storm. However, programming languages MATLAB is used in this research to verify the principles and calculate the flight dynamics of an aircraft. At the end, the relationship between speed and tail-down force will be provided by analyzing the results obtained from the MATLAB with the aid of different equation applied on it.
