Abstract
QUEST is one of the available manufacturing processes simulation tools available in the market. It is able to evaluate a system’s performance by looking at the statistic such as parts produced per unit time, cycle time, downtime etc. and plot them into graphs and charts. These information is important for an organisation to make business decision. By simulation, the organisations need not to risk their profit on modifying the existing set up and at the same time is able to explore other alternatives in in order to maximise performance. However, QUEST user interface can be confusing to new users. Therefore, an external user interface such as Excel is proposed to solve this problem. This project will look into the probable way to let Excel communicate with QUEST through the transfer of important data between the two software. Through this project, a user can enter the required data to run the simulation into an Excel workbook, transfer the data to text file with a button. After that, the user can go to QUEST and run the simulation with just a button. Knowledge of building simulation models and configuration of settings are not required. After that, the user can return to Excel to look at the result of simulations.
