Abstract

At this fast paced world, the usage of electricity has become essential in this generation. It is very important as human uses electricity for everyday activities. However, the burning of fossil fuels will cause pollution to the environment. Therefore, this project presents the design and development of footstep power generator. Its aim is to produce a low-cost footpath that could generate electricity by exerting pressure on it and the electricity produced will later on transferred to a battery storage. This idea is great because humans walk every day, and energy will be lost, might as well transfer it to other usable application. This is a great way of producing energy as it does not need any burning process that would harm the environment. The footstep power generation technique used in this project is by changing mechanical energy of produced by humans stepping through a platform and then changes it into electrical energy. In order to gain more understanding towards this project, research was done on related books, articles and journals. The design inside the platform would directly affect the electricity produced. The type of material and the quantity of the material used will affect the efficiency of the electricity produced. One out of the few designs proposed was chosen to be fabricated after performing a few test to determine which will be the best design. After successfully fabricating the prototype, a few experiments were done to test the maximum electricity produced and how long would it take to store a certain amount of energy and the results obtained will be recorded. All the results obtained were analysed and compare. The main objectives were achieved
