Abstract

The designs of vehicles are depending on the demand and needs of the market. High down force is an important factor to race car but it is not a main factor for a trucks. Cars are very sensitive to side wind and gust, but heavy trucks are not affected by the wind and gust. The requirement for aerodynamics is different for each type of vehicles. The design of sedan car is often depended on the exterior look, because the “design is what sell”. Even though the aerodynamics of car is getting better, however, it is not getting to a unity shape. It comes out with more designs and shapes. Therefore, the installation of wings and spoilers plays a pivotal role, to provide better aerodynamics such that reduce lift force and drag force without affecting the exterior design. CFD is one of the ways to provide solution of getting the drag and lift data required in the design of wing and spoiler because it can save time and cost under limited resources.
