Abstract

A general study of Truss and Batten products from AJIYA and the market research on applicable methods to AJIYA’s goal of automating part of their production line. The purpose of this system is to reduce the dependency on foreign workers, increase product manufacturing efficiency and also to meet supply demands. A market research and study were conducted to find relevant automated packaging systems. Several mechanisms and components were selected to be included into the final drawing within the three conceptual designs. Conceptual designs were used for comparing in Decision Matrix. The requirements of the components were determined in this project to resemble with similarity to characteristics found if the system is to run in real life. The optimum design was then used as the conceptual design because there is an industrial simulation software that can represent a real-life work scenario. The software used is SOLIDWORKS. Design models were drawn in SOLIDWORKS and simulated using SOLIDWORKS to obtain the cycle time of each section of the automation system. Comparison was made to the existing manual stacking cycle time and the possible number of produced products by the automated system were determined.
