Abstract

This project is aimed to solve the problem and incidents which caused by forklift truck and increase the capacity of warehouse by using Mecanum wheel which having a more flexibility on moving direction. There are a lot of accidents caused by forklift truck due to improper control and decision of the operator. Besides that, the operator cannot focus also will cause the accidents happen. Overload, sharp turning, lifting loads while travelling are the most significant causes of the accident. Furthermore, the problem of understaff or insufficient manpower also increased by these years. To overcome these problems, the idea of design and fabricate forklift with automated guided vehicle system is initiated. Through the control by computer, human errors and accidents can be avoided. Besides solving the problem of accidents with forklift, this project will also help company decrease the cost of damaged goods. By doing so, those operators who drove forklift can now be switched to another workplace and help the company to maximize their profit. This project was also initiated to overcome the problem of understaff or insufficient manpower occurs in industry. The final design of this project will be selected through Pugh’s matrix and the prototype is built follow the ratio of (prototype) 1:3 (actual) to test the ability and possibility of implementation of this design. This prototype will mainly focus on the direction control of prototype which control by Mecanum wheel, stepper motor, stepper driver, programmable logic controller, sensors and so on. This prototype will be using magnetic tape sensor as a guidance method for AGV. By using programmable logic controller, the movement control of Mecanum wheels can be implemented.
