Abstract
The concept of Internet of Things and Big Data Analytics is becoming increasingly well-known and applied in the manufacturing sector to optimize the process and ultimately maximizing profit. However, studies shown that the implementation of these technologies is having a slow uptake among Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprise (SME), mainly due to the high initial investment cost required. Recent research on Big Data Analytics, Internet of Things, and simulation related studies within the field of manufacturing is reviewed for insights on how subject matter expert are pioneering the implementation of Industry 4.0 across the globe. Finally, a relatively simple methodology is proposed as a solution to develop a web application for data analytics and monitoring of the Virtual Factory, with the aid of popular web development microframework Flask.
