Abstract

The assembly machine is an important consideration for businesses who want to remain successful and competitive in the market today. This transition from manual to semi-automatic assembly usually does not go smoothly that a lot of effort is done to make things work properly. Usually, the tools and machines for the semi-automated assembly solution have to be built to work with the design of the original details because changes in the details often generate a lot of extra work caused by the need for further testing of the functionality of the product to meet the original specifications. In this project, the seal plug needs to insert with the O-ring is not easy, it is because the O-ring is an elastic object and difficult to control. The system is designed with a vibration bowl as the feeding system that transport the O-ring down through and a track and the pneumatic drive system and push the shaft with the O-ring and assembled to the plug. The designed machine was simulated to analysis the structural and behavioural performance of the machine. After the calculation, the force of pneumatic actuator use in this project is at least 93.8N, the acceleration of vibratory bowl feeder may be 0.0025m/s2, the natural frequency of the vibratory bowl feeder can be set as 80psi. Using the calculation result, can achieve the cycle time which is approximately 5 second. For the analysis, the results had mate to the requirement with the high value of safety factor. When the machine is implemented, the company can decrease the man-power and increase productivity and profit.
