Abstract

In order to solve the problem currently facing in Top Glove Factory 19BF, a holding device was required to be designed. The operators require to take the limestone powder sample from the inclined conveyor and the inspection in laboratory was conducted by the quality inspectors. These processes are time consuming and longer cycle time is generally required. Hence, an idea for using an inspection camera to capture the sample information came out and it was necessary to have a holding device to hold the non-contact colour measurement for the purpose. This project introduces the design structure of the holding devices by using the Solid Work to generate the 3-D model of assembly form. The device was mainly design to fulfil the requirements like angle adjustable, height adjustable, camera holding purpose and others. Some analysis studies were simulated with regard to the design. With all the information, linear studies, buckling studies, frequency studies and fatigue simulation were carried out to determine the device performance. The final results showed that under all the simulation, the performance was stable and safety to be used. Once all the features were done, the automated holding device will be suitable to replace workers by carry out inspection, data recording and transmission of data via wireless connection to increase the efficiency and accuracy. Hence, with the automated holding device, the workers will be saving more time as the non-contact colour measurement sensor will inspect the limestone powder and thew data will then be recorded automatically and sent to the control room via wireless connection. This will benefit the factory progress efficiency and the accuracy of the data collection. The most important is that with the holding device it will keep the worker save rather then they need to go through the conveyor to collect the powder which is dangerous with chance to suck by the crusher.
