Abstract

This project aims to find a solution for Hang Tuah Furniture Sdn Bhd that is interested to automate part of the process at bandsaw with the goal to reduce men power and to increase productivity. The proposed solution was to design an semi-automated log loading system for the bandsaw. SolidWorks was used to draft two different conveyor systems with the input from the literature review carried out. These designs were compare and a final design has been selected to use in this project. The final design consists of a log loading system, a loading conveyor, a system to segregate scrap, finish goods and work in progress. The work in progress will be return to the bandsaw through a return conveyor. The system is capable to reduce the men power from four persons to two persons, in which the operator may select predefined cutting width using auto-fencing.
