Abstract

The project presents the industry project for GA Sales Sdn Bhd of designing an enclosed chamber with highly effective ventilation system synchronized with the use of virtual reality device for its customer. Venta air washer is responsible to act as the input of conditioned air supply. The enclosed chamber serves the purpose to allow the user to experience fresh air released from the air washer as well as to promote healthy indoor air quality. The application of virtual reality technology is to deepen the effect of user sense of happiness and satisfaction during the process. Hence, the objective of this industry project is to design a fresh air ventilation chamber and allow user to have interactive experience by the VR technology while staying inside the fresh air ventilated chamber. Various type of ventilation systems and air distribution systems are studied to develop design with appropriate inputs. Engineering designs are developed based on the technologies of impinging jet system, underfloor air distribution and air shower system and are constructed by using SOLIDWORKS. All the engineering designs would be subjected to computational fluid dynamics simulation in order to select appropriate the final design through the reviews of results. The criterias to be evaluated so as to determine the selection of final design is the average air velocity in the chamber, maximum chamber temperature, the mean skin temperature of the occupant and differential pressure in the chamber. From the simulated results and evaluation performed, the finalize design system chosen is the impinging jet ventilation design as it meets all the requirements needed. Static structural analysis simulation results were categorized to three major findings such as stress, total deformation and safety factor on the impinging jet ventilation system. Static structural analysis was carried out on the casing which use to carry the air washer and centrifugal fans. The simulated result shown that it able to withstand with maximum total deformation of 5.8374 mm, maximum equivalent stress of 4.6073 MPa and minimum safety factor of 6.0393. Besides that, static structural analysis on the wall of chamber shows maximum total deformation of 8.9057 mm, maximum equivalent stress of 2.1893 MPa and minimum safety factor of 15 after the improvement. In addition, the system is equipped with the Oculus Quest 2 VR device for user interactive experience. The construction of the chamber create a strategy to attract more potential customers for the company and the customer is able to understand the importance of air washers by self experiencing.
