Abstract

Nowadays, the aviation industry has rapidly developed and it has been a key contributor to global economic prosperity. Consequently, the aviation industry represents 7.8% of final oil consumption worldwide in 2019. In order to reduce the percentage, the aerodynamics of aircrafts should be improved by installing optimum performance of vortex generators (VG) on the aircrafts’ wings. VGs are installed to reduce the separation region at the rear part of aircrafts by delaying the boundary layer separation point. It can be done by the VGs as they draw energy from the airflow above to energise the flow in the boundary layer so that the flow in the boundary layer is enough energetic to withstand the adverse pressure gradient.
