Abstract

Since the start of industrial revolution 4.0 (IR4.0), most glove manufacturing company has already converted the glove manufacturing process from manual labour to automation. The benefits for using automation are that it saves time as the process can continue without rest since the process is being controlled automatically. Other benefits of automation also include increasing the production rate, as the process can be speed up using machines. This benefits the manufacturing company because they can sell out more of their product in a short amount of time, hence increasing the company’s income. Although the glove manufacturing process is mostly automated until the stripping process, the gloves packaging process still requires human labour to pack the gloves into the packaging boxes. To solve this problem, an on-line gloves packaging system is proposed to help reduce human labour during the packaging process. The purpose of this proposal is to design a glove packaging system. The glove packaging system will continue after the stripping process and transfer the gloves that are stacked on the stripping station without human intervention. The gloves will then be packed automatically in the packaging box by the packaging system and exit the packaging line. In conclusion, the final design is slighly bigger than the recomended deisgn by 32.45% which is still acceptable as the size difference is not too big. The efficiency relative to the line speed is 84.8%, meaning the glove packaging system is slightly slower than the rate of production of the gloves by 15.2%.
