Abstract

This project introduces the scissor lift mechanism implemented on the remote control vehicle. The scissor lift will be carrying a load of up to 2kg and deliver the load from 0.45m height to a higher position at 1.2m height. Other than that, the stability of the whole scissor lift structure will be taken into consideration to avoid the load dropping from the platform. There are various types of scissor lift mechanisms that have been used on the market, and the project that has applied the use of scissor lift mechanisms will be discussed and based on the functionality. Next, the control system of the scissors lift will be using the Arduino microcontroller board to interact and control the components and the software is using the Arduino IDE to write and upload the code to the board. At the final stage, the prototype will be built and then test by carrying the target load of 2kg and lift to the target height of 120cm (with the scissors lift mounded on a remoter control vehicle), it can perform the movement stable to successful deliver the load when the remote control vehicle at a static condition is the goal of these project. With use of CAD software (AutoCad and SolidWork), the material used to be compare and test and also the design of the prototype tested without buiding the real prototype model before finalized. The Arduino IDE and the Arduino UNO board is use in stage of building the prototype, with the several built-in features in the Arduino IDE software to program the programmable microcontroller on the Arduino UNO board. The final prototype design successfully lift up 2kg bottle caps (the mass including safety factor) from 0.45m height to 1.2m height and pour into the target location by using wireless controller.
