Abstract

This paper presents a Mini Fingerprint Security Lock or Drawer Lock. This system is based on Arduino UNO as the microcontroller, R307 Fingerprint Sensor Module and a solenoid Lock. This security system will provide sufficient if not more security by denying access to unauthorised personnel and those with access will pass the security system easily solely based on their fingerprint. This paper will show how secured and consistent this system is by conducting few experiments to ensure people with confidence about the security of this project. Traditional lock and key method is really a hassle and really inconvenient where problems would occur if we forgot to bring keys when going ou, not forgetting the fact that keys can be stolen so easily by unwanted visitors in our house. Besides, imagine all the time you have wasted struggling to find the right key when trying to get in your house or opening a drawer and sometimes we get frustrated. This paper presents you an alternative way to be used as ur security system for your door or drawer where you can gain access just by scanning your fingers. In order to manage the locking and unlocking of the solenoid lock, an R307 fingerprint scanner is interfaced with an Arduino Uno R3 ATMEGA328P. A 16x2 Liquid Crystal Display(LCD) is also being used to display all the comments and commands throughout the process of locking and unlocking of the lock. The LCD will also helps user in enrolling their fingerprint or verifying their fingerprint. Some of the comments or commands are place finger, image converted, image taken, fingerprint found and fingerprint not found to give indications to the suer whether their attempt to enroll fingerprint or verify fingerprint has succeeded or failed
