Abstract

Farmers’ and gardeners’ main job is to ensure they water and take care of the crops and plants. Watering is the most essential and unavoidable practice to do in agriculture for a plant to grow nicely and healthily but it is also the most tiring thing to do. There are two main points to take note of when watering manually, that is when and how much water your should water the crops or plants. Too much or too little water will affect the health of the crops and plants. Agriculture is the most essential element for people around the world not only in providing food as food is necessary for a human to live and undergo their daily activities. But agriculture also plays a huge role in our economic system as agriculture happens in every part of the world. In addition, plantation or agriculture helps to improve the environment. In this project, an agriculture monitoring and irrigation system is made to help people to keep track of their plant’s condition and also to ensure that their plants grow healthy. By this means, the system uses IoT. The Internet of Things (IoT) is emerging rapidly, it is changing the way how the agriculture industry works around the world. With all that, the information of the plant can be monitored and controlled using the app which is called Blynk. Different sensors are used in the development of this system, such as a capacitive soil moisture sensor, humidity and temperature sensor (DHT-22), and temperature sensor (DS18b20). The sensors are connected to the Wi-Fi module (Node MCU Lua IoT I2C ESP8266 Wifi) with an alarm and an OLED display module. The sensor senses the soil moisture level and automatically turns ON the water pump. The data of the sensors are uploaded to the cloud and then connected to the Blynk app. The Blynk app will then shows the readings of the sensors and show the status of the water pump. Using The Internet of Things (IoT) helps people who do plantations and farmers to overcome the challenges they face while doing plantation
