Abstract

Nowadays, smart planting has replaced traditional planting methods due to the influx of technology. The Internet of Things (IoT) has steadily gained increasing popularity around the world. This innovative technology is being used by many industries to improve industrial operations that involves automated control, reducing the need for manual control. As a result, industry nowadys are more intelligent, safe, and environmentally sustainable. IoT is also revolutionising the agriculture sector to become more technologically based, which lessens the challenges faced by farmers. In addition, a growing number of people are now utilising IoT technology to make daily tasks in their personal lives easier and more efficient. Being a person with a demanding daily schedule makes it challenging to govern and manage everything around us without the aid of technology. This project was primarily created with busy people in mind who don’t have the time or gardening skills to take care of their wonderful houseplants. Having a houseplant can help the air feel fresher, but most people find it difficult to take care of their plants. Up to 60% of participants in an online study stated that they found it difficult to take care of their houseplants. In this project, IoT was integrated into a plant monitoring system that combines a monitoring and watering system to meet the plants’ essential needs even when the owner is not around for a period of time. In order to collect data for condition checking, watering pump activities, and data uploading to cloud storage for owner monitoring while they are not there, sensors and a watering pump were added to the system. This will lessen the amount of physical labour needed during the planting procedure while also reducing the reason why plants die
