Abstract

This project aims to build a Dual Axis Solar Tracker with tinted films to improves the efficiency of the tracking system of solar tracker by allowing it to response to the maximum light intensity or to the path of the sun easily. Light dependent resistor, LDR used in solar tracker response to all types of light sources such as visible light, ultraviolet light, infrared ray and more. Nevertheless, the LDR should response only to the visible light as solar panel generate electricity in the form of visible light. Hence, by implementing tinted films on LDR to filter out other light sources except visible light under sunny and cloudy condition will allows the LDR identify the brightest spot and move the dual axis solar tracker to the correspond location. 5 percent VLT tinted film has proven allowing the LDR to filter 99 percent of UV ray and 75 percent of infrared ray, capture more visible light and respond to the brightest spot more easily. Thus, implementing tinted films on LDR will improve the performance of the tracking system of the dual axis solar tracker
