Abstract

There is a seismic shift happening in the workplace, where workplace environment, employee psychology and management have become crucial in building and growth of companies. According to Capgemini and Majesco (2022), employees have different expectations towards the company they are working, same to employers. With the new norm resulted by the Covid-19 pandemic, scholars and business organization from all over the world are looking for solutions to enhance productivity and work performance of employees to achieve sustainability competitiveness and beneficially towards the economic recover. This research project has highlighted the importance of employee work performance and focus in determining variables that influence employee's work performance in the Malaysia Covid-19 pandemic context. This research will examine the effect of perceived anxiety, employee well-being and organizational trust towards employee work performance, supported by the Planned Behaviour Theory. Hence, to achieve the research objectives, a quantitative cross-sectional study has been conducted with 141 employees currently working in Small Medium Size Enterprise (SMEs) located in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Subsequently, the data analyses will be carried out using Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS) and Partial Least Square – Structural Equation Modelling (PLS-SEM, SmartPLS). The research findings have found that employee well-being have leads to better employee work performance and perceived knowledge towards Covid-19 have moderated the relationship between perceived anxiety and employee work performance. Finally, this research has contributed to the SMEs in Malaysia and literatures regarding a detailed understanding of employee well-being and perceived knowledge towards Covid-19. Where managerial implications can be used by managers to enhance the workplace culture and workplace design to overcome obstacles that impair employees work performance. Furthermore, limitations and future recommendations are provided in the research as a reference for future research design and ideas to achieve more accurate and outstanding research findings.
