Abstract

Depletion of natural resources are no doubt to be one of the major problems encountered by humanity today. The extraction and combustion processes when exploiting the resources have brought negative effects to the environment, typically global warming. The application of solar power had given mankind an alternative source of energy to replace the majority of the current primary energy sources like coal, petroleum, and natural gas. Furthermore, solar energy is not just only clean yet renewable, it could also say to be limitless and can be harnessed for a long time until the day when the sun lost its shine. In the meantime, global warming has caused the average temperature of the environment, mainly in cites, to rise, while relatively reducing the humidity of air. If the humidity of air exceeds certain value, it may be undesirable for human beings. For example, if one is exposed to dry air for too long, it may suffer dehydration. Same goes for plants, certain species of crops can grow in the best condition where the humidity is favourable. In this case, a misting system can be applied to overcome the issue proposed. Misting system are capable of increasing the humidity and reducing the temperature of an area or a space, thus providing a suitable humidity level that suits best. With the use of automation and solar power, the misting system can be operated automatically to manipulate the humidity at desired levels, without requiring manual operation and also saves energy.
