Abstract
An Automated Guided Vehicle (AGV) is a mobile robot used to transport materials, products, or equipment within a manufacturing or warehouse environment without the need for human intervention. These vehicles are programmed to take specific routes, pick up and drop off loads and communicate with other machines and systems in order to optimise material flow and production efficiency. In this project, the construction of an AGV with line following and obstacles avoidance and detection feature is being carried out. The hardware components used in the construction of AGV includes Arduino Uno R3 board, Arduino L293D motor driver shield, four DC motors, ultrasonic sensor, two IR sensors, two rechargeable lithium batteries and jumper wires. Ultrasonic sensor is in charge of the obstacle avoidance feature, while the line following feature is performed depending on the readings of both IR sensors. There are also software being used in order to do this project. For instance, Arduino IDE is used to do the programming of the AGV system, SolidWorks is used to do the designing of the parts and Fritzing is used to do the wiring and schematic diagram. Some experiments are being conducted on the prototype to test the performance of the AGV.
