Abstract

The development of wind technology has been leading the world in utilising renewable energy sources. Asystem calledVortex BladelessWind Turbine is a revolutionary wind technology system that harvests energy from the structural vibration due to the resonance phenomenon. It does not require wind blades or rotary generators towork, as it relies on the principles of vortex shedding and by the conversion of vibrational force to the electrical force. The problem encountered in this system is that the structural design of the system’s bluff body will have a significant impact on the performance of the system by how the vortex flow interacts with the bluff body. Hence, this study proposed to investigate a few structural designs of the Vortex Bladeless Wind Turbine bluff body using Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation and identify the optimal structural design for the bluff body. The vortex shedding frequency,
