Abstract

Rising traffic noise pollution due to undesired noise controlling action has been harming the community in terms of life quality and health condition. This study is proposed to analyse the possible combinations of different design in order to approach a better model of traffic-sound barrier and further evaluate it with comparison to selected existing model. Discussed aspects have included material selections, dimensional parameters, acoustical pattern, and potential combinations of traffic-sound barrier designs. On the other hand, manipulating variables which are affecting the performance of traffic-sound barrier such as frequency bandwidth of traffic noise and diffractions are measured and evaluated. Potential applications of periodical structure and absorptive material have been outlined with comparison to traditional traffic-sound barrier. Finally, The Finite Element Method is applied to study the behaviours of new designed traffic-sound barrier as to validate the outcome of its noise reduction performance.
