Abstract

An enhanced Cloud-based Graphical User Interface (GUI) ordering system with OCR feature is developed to replace the existing One-piece Manufacturing Individualised Solution (OMIS) Cloud GUI ordering system that is not user friendly, whereby it requires users to manually enter the personal details during new account registration process. At the same time, it is also found that many people will accidentally fill incorrect details during the new account registration process. Meanwhile, the enhanced GUI ordering system has integrated new OCR feature that is capable of extracting personal details from the captured Identification Card (IC) image. With this capability, it will help the user to fill in the personal details correctly during the new account registration process. Nevertheless, the OMIS manufacturing line comprises of several stations that these stations are interlinked together. To allow the newly developed enhanced GUI ordering system to be able to send the order to the OMIS manufacturing line (especially for the Bottle Label Printing station), additional softwares and communication protocols (e.g. PowerApps; Node-Red; OPC UA; Excel; File Transfer Protocol, FTP) are integrated to form the enhanced ordering system. Lastly, two experiments are conducted for this project to investigate on the accuracy of personal details entered for new account registration process with and without the OCR feature. From these experiments, it is found that OCR is better than using manual typing. Based on the result, it found that the efficiency of using OCR is higher than using manual typing, and the percentage of error can be reduced by using OCR.
