Abstract

Along with the development of industrial activities, drilling activities for petroleum resources increased as well. In the drilling process, oil spill accident might happen, this will cause oil pollution to the environment. If an oil spill happened in a smaller scale or in a narrow place, there will be a limitation to the size of the equipment of the oil cleaning equipment. To clean up an oil spill before it spread, a simple structural oil skimmer that can be used by normal citizen will be a better solution. The device develop in this project should has simple structure, portable easy to deploy and use. Developing a disc skimmer in this project to skim off the oil floating on the water surface. The efficiency of the disc skimmer in this project is about 72%. This disc skimmer can be further improve for better performance in future.
