Abstract
In the era of demanding and depending on mobility, accessibility and convenience, the development of wireless has spread wildly which leads to the requirement of wireless electrical supply. Minirobotics is the field of miniature robotics, these particular mobile robots possess dimension less than a few centimeters or even millimeters. Due to its small size advantage, minirobots are nowadays serving for medical purposes or other applications which required these robots to operate in a small and confined environment. Conventional minirobots are usually powered up by batteries. These batteries can easily take up most of its space and result in a bulky system without significantly improving its operating time. Furthermore, chemical battery leakage can sometime be lethal. In addition, batteries themselves can cause serious environmental pollution. The main objective of this project is to tackle the abovementioned problems by designing an efficient wireless power transfer solution as an alternative to power up a minirobot. Resonant inductive coupling associated with impedance matching technique is being employed and studied. Throughout this project, a framework of wireless power transfer in powering a minirobot is built. The power requirement of the minirobot, transfer efficiency which potentially can be considered as the power transfer efficiency is being determined. This research presented and discussed the basic working principles, concepts, theories and literature reviews for this research. Last but not least, the methodology in conducting this research and the results obtained are being justified and discussed.
