Abstract
This project is aimed to develop a smart dustbin with automated open-lid system and garbage level sensor by using Arduino. This rubbish bin should be able to shows the garbage level inside the rubbish bin by the lcd and able to opens the lid via servo motor if any object is in the area of the detection ultrasonic sensor has been sense. It was designed in this way to reduce the littering problems and alert the management to clean up the rubbish bin in a certain time if the specific place is always full of people. The smart dustbin is intended to contribute to these efforts by automating waste collection and reducing the workload of waste management personnel. The conceptual design presented in this project includes the use of an ultrasonic sensor to detect the level of waste in the smart dustbin, a servo motor to open and close the lid of the dustbin, an LCD to display information about the waste level and a GPS tracker to monitor the location of the dustbin. This conceptual design also includes batteries, resistor and LED to provide power and visual indicators. The prototype of the smart dustbin is designed using PP corrugated boards. This not only can make the prototype waterproof, it can also easy to carry due to the light weight of PP corrugated boards. Some experiments are conducted to ensure that the components like ultrasonic sensor, LED, LCD, servo motor and GPS tracker are functioning well. Overall, the smart dustbin has the potential to significantly improve waste management and contribute to a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
