Abstract

This thesis presents a comprehensive exploration of the manufacturing process involved in producing galvanized iron filter frames. The project aims to optimize the various stages of production, from roll forming and cutting to bending and assembly, while also conducting a detailed structural analysis of the final product. The research begins with a simulation of the roll forming process using UBECO Profil, ensuring accurate shaping of galvanized iron into Uprofiles. The cutting method, specifically v-notching, is meticulously designed to create precise bending points, followed by air bending to achieve a 90-degree angle. Critical aspects of the project involve the selection of appropriate machinery and tooling based on calculated forces and material properties. Cold welding is chosen as the assembly method to preserve the material’s properties and corrosion resistance. Static analysis using SolidWorks is employed to assess the structural integrity and durability of the filter frame. Throughout the research, the influence of factors such as the number of roll forming stations, material thickness, and bending angles on forces and stresses is thoroughly examined. The project demonstrates the significance of precision and careful planning in manufacturing galvanized iron filter frames. By integrating technology, engineering principles, and detailed analysis, a reliable and structurally sound final product is achieved. This thesis contributes valuable insights into optimizing manufacturing processes while upholding stringent quality standards in the production of galvanized iron filter frames.
