Abstract

Augmented reality (AR) has garnered heightened recognition in various domains, especially within the field of educational settings. Considering the COVID-19 pandemic that has permeated global society, the home-based learning method has manifested as a tangible reality, extending its reach across borders. It has become unequivocally evident that augmented reality technology serves as a catalyst, enabling learners to assimilate and comprehend educational content in an unprecedentedly innovative and creative manner. This understanding will motivate and inspire learners to use this highly impactful and innovative technological innovation throughout the learning process. In the context of the circumstances and conditions, a new model that integrates the Big Five personality traits and the UTAUT2 theories has been proposed and subsequently tested. Quantitative research is employed due to its ability to facilitate the focus on the data collected and the question of research through surveys, as well as its capacity to analyse the problem of establishing relationships between independent and dependent variables. The statistical methods SPSS were used to analyse the data in this research. The findings of this study analysis disclose the positive impact of performance expectancy, effort expectancy, social influence, facilitating conditions, hedonic motivation, price value, extraversion, agreeableness, conscientiousness, and openness on behavioural intention while adopting augmented reality in educational domains. On the other hand, the neuroticism construct is noted to exert a negative influential impact on behavioural intention to adopt augmented reality in Malaysia. The implications drawn from this study will contribute to the existing literature by providing more comprehensive and enlightening knowledge. Consequently, this will result in an enhanced understanding and awareness of the dynamic nature and behavioural patterns associated with adopting augmented reality in Malaysia. Moreover, this study further presents and delves into the practical implications and theoretical contributions that arise from the obtained findings.
