Abstract

This paper introduces a sustainable and portable approach to a miniature wind tunnel design specifically for educational purposes in smaller institutions like middle and high schools to convey a practical understanding of aerodynamics and engineering, developing the curiosity of young minds and the future of engineering. This paper will explore the history of wind tunnels and will discover 3 different design ideas, which include a blow-down, suck-down wind tunnel that features a diffuser, testing chamber and more to provide a visual representation of the air flowing across the model. Furthermore, a third apparatus called a windshaper is a new concept of ‘wind tunnels’ that will be looked into. This project places sustainability as an important aspect in development, integrating sustainable and eco-friendly materials and energy-efficient components in addition to reusable energy implementation. Safety measures and cultural sensitivity are all incorporated into this project to create a safe environment and testing apparatus for the new generation. This paper also highlights how this project aligns with the sustainable development goals, as well as provide quality education and innovation.
