Abstract
This research project presents the design, development of prototype and testing of a mechanised polar collector to enhance manufacturing efficiency and product quality for a can production line. Traditional collection methods often result in defects, increasing production costs. Two design versions of the collector were developed and tested, with the second improved version addressing design flaws identified in the first iteration. Testing of the prototype design #2 showed significant improvements, with scratches reduced to 2.5% and dents eliminated entirely compared to traditional methods. The collector demonstrated the capacity to hold up to 300 pieces per slot, with time trials confirming its reliability and efficiency. Overall, this technology represents a substantial advancement, offering practical solutions to reduce defects and improve production efficiency. The findings contribute valuable insights into automated systems’ design and implementation in industrial settings, with potential for broader application and future advancements in production technology
