Abstract
A gearbox is a mechanical device that is utilized to transfer force and power from a source to a driven system, such as a car's wheels. The 5th-speed gearbox is a kind of manual transmission that provides five unique forward gear ratios. This gearbox mechanism operates by utilizing an arranged set of gears. The main objective of this project is to create and construct a gearbox based on the 5th-speed gearbox mechanism. The 5th-speed gearbox will allow operators to choose the best speed of revolution for various conditions. This means that by changing different gears, the operator can control the output speed of revolution from a constant input speed of motor revolution. The design of the 5th-speed gearbox will involve selecting appropriate gears with varying diameters and numbers of teeth. The gears will be arranged in a specific order to achieve the required gear ratios. Throughout this project, the result of the prototype is not ideal because of some factors. In a nutshell, the design of the prototype of the 5-speed gearbox can be improved to achieve the goals.
