Abstract
Line following robot is an autonomous mobile robot that is able to follow the black coloured line drawn on a white coloured surface or vice versa. The line following robot is programmed to follow the predetermined path without the need for human intervention unless necessary action is needed. In this project, the construction of the line following robot with the ability to follow the line accurately is carried out. The components used to construct the line following robot includes Arduino Uno R3, L298N Motor Driver, 9V rechargeable Lithium-ion battery, three infrared sensors and two DC motor. The infrared sensors are used to detect the presence of black line on the predetermined path and allow the line following robot to carry out the necessary action according to the programmed code. Obstacle avoidance features can also be implemented on the line following robot to allow it to avoid any obstacles while following the predetermined path. Experiments were conducted to test the performance of the prototype to ensure that it is able to carry out the desired function.
