Abstract

Fire accidents happen every day, it is very difficult to stop fire accidents from happening because it is unpredictable. Fire accidents can only be reduced by improving preventive measures. And the preventive measure suggested in this project is by implementing a fire extinguisher robot with the help of USB camera for detection of fire. The fire extinguisher robot is able to detect fire, and perform appropriate actions such as the approach to the fire and extinguish the fire. Square-hollowed aluminium bars are used to fabricate the structure of the robot because it is easier to fabricate and light-weight. Besides that, the main components used to fabricate the project are Arduino microcontroller board, motor driver, power window motor, and USB camera. 2 types of programming software are used which are Arduino and Processing software. Since image processing is used in this project, it is required to use RGB colour model to detect the flame colour’s value. Not only that, a suitable threshold value for the flame colour is also needed for ease of detection. The suitable RGB colour for detecting the colour of the flame is 255, 185, 185 and the threshold value selected is 8.
