Abstract

The primary filter is the primary filtration of the filtration system, mainly used to filter dust particles above 5um. In a primary filter manufacturing plant, the assembly process for the aluminum frame and insertion of filter media are currently performed manually. This manual approach leads to inefficiencies and time consuming operations. By transitioning to automated or semi-automated solutions for frame assembly and filter media insertion could significantly streamline operations, reduce production time, and enhance overall efficiency. This project focused on developing a fixture to speed up the filter insertion process. In order to achieve the goal, literatures on various relevant areas were reviewed to obtained ideas and input required to the design of the fixture. Three mechanisms were proposed, and one conceptual design was sketched with details. The fabrication process involved the clamp and base making, with all necessary features to fit the locations of the clamps, frame, wire mesh accurately. However, during testing, a problem was identified which is the filter media did not shrinks correctly due to friction. This issue highlights the need for future refinement. Future works will focus on addressing this friction and optimizing the fixture design for even greater efficiency and performance in the filter assembly process.
