Abstract
This study investigates the complex relationships between human-AI collaboration, organisational culture, and organisational support for skill development, with employee well-being as a mediating variable and employment security as a moderating variable, to understand their impact on workplace productivity in contemporary work environments. The purpose of the research is to enhance understanding of how human-AI collaboration influences workplace productivity in contemporary work environments and identify key determinants of successful collaboration. Data were collected from 131 employees in urban Malaysia using a cross-sectional survey and analysed using SPSS, with Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA) employed to assess reliability and validity. Findings reveal that while human-AI collaboration did not directly enhance workplace productivity, it positively impacted employee well-being. Employment security was found to moderate the relationship between organisational culture and employee wellbeing, particularly in the context of AI integration. This suggests that employment security influences how organisational culture affects well-being, especially as AI technologies transform job roles and responsibilities. Theoretical implications challenge established assumptions about the direct impact of human-AI collaboration on workplace productivity, suggesting more intricate relationships. Practically, the research highlights the importance of creating a supportive work environment for human-AI collaboration, prioritising employee well-being, and implementing policies for ethical AI use. Recommendations include policy development, employee training on AI use, and future research with larger, more diverse samples to generalise the findings. This study provides valuable insights for organisations seeking to optimise human-AI collaboration in contemporary work environments.
