Abstract
In the digital transformation era, data centers demand reliable and energy-efficient cooling systems. This project presents a simulated Chiller Plant Optimization System (CPOS) using Direct Digital Controllers (DDCs) integrated within the EcoStruxure Building Operation (EBO) platform by Schneider Electric. Traditional PLC-based systems often suffer from high costs, limited flexibility, and complex integration with Building Management Systems (BMS). In contrast, DDCs offer modular, scalable, and cost-effective control solutions. The simulation implements control strategies such as dynamic scheduling, demand-based cooling, priority switching, and BTU/temperature sensing. These strategies were evaluated for effectiveness in enhancing energy efficiency, system reliability, and real-time monitoring in a BMS environment. This study demonstrates the feasibility and advantages of using DDCs for intelligent HVAC management, laying the foundation for future real-world implementations in smart buildings and Industry 4.0- ready infrastructures.
